Green Light Fashion Show

In the Spring of 2026, Loyola Fashion Arts Club held its Green Light Fashion Show. The focus of the show was sustainability, environmental consciousness, and community efforts toward improving our world. I worked with a team of nine other stylists to create looks for the show’s three categories: Overconsumption, Sustainability, and A Sustainable Future. I also worked with the makeup team to design and execute makeup looks for two of the four outfits.

Because the focus of this show was environmental sustainability, all the materials I used for my looks were sourced sustainably, from secondhand sources or donations to Fashion Arts Club. No waste was created in the process of making these outfits.

My five looks were inspired by the show’s categories, as well as my own reflections on sustainability. For the Overconsumption category, I created a “zoot suit” by modifying LACMA’s archived pattern from the 1930s. I wanted the “mob boss” vibe to reflect monopolization in fashion, and the excess fabric of the suit to invoke wasteful indulgence. I also created a camo set to draw awareness to military spending, and the juxtaposition of “army supply” as the affordable alternative to new retail amidst the desire for more revealing women’s clothing. For the Sustainability category, I created a pair of outfits inspired by 1970’s fashion sets, which are extremely durable, to reference the “hippie” era of environmentalism. In the Sustainable Future category, I incorporated keyboard keys, disposed string lights, and a mouse to portray technological advancement and the threat and opportunity it may hold for fashion’s future.
